Share Accommodation

Students who wish to stay in a rented house, apartment, flat or condominium can expect to pay about $100 to $200 each week for rent. On top of this they will have to pay for the use of gas and electricity and some landlords will charge for the use of water. When you rent you pay a bond and sign a tenancy agreement. This agreement will tell you how many people may live at that property. If you exceed that number, you will be made to leave and you may lose your bond money. As a rule, Sydney City Council will only allow a maximum of 2 people or 2 beds (not including cots) to a bedroom in newly built buildings.

Deluxe Hotel / Apartment

Some students prefer to be more independent and stay in a hotel for about $329 per week for a single room or $385 for a double room for a week. For information about your rights as a tenant, see
