Purposes of Qualification:
This course will prepare students to develop skills and knowledge needed to operate effectively as an area manager, department manager, regional manager. By the end of this course, students will be able to oversee the work of others and provide strategic leadership.
Course Description:
This course provides competencies in developing and implementing strategic plans, managing organizational change, developing and implementing a business plan, managing finances, providing leadership across the organization, managing innovation and continuous improvement, managing risk, establishing and maintaining strategic networks.
Target Group: Learner’s Characteristics
This qualification is designed for both overseas and local students seeking a career in management / business.
In addition, this qualification reflects the role of individuals who have managerial responsibilities. They may oversee the work of others or have specialized role where they do not supervise others but provide strategic leadership.
This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with substantial vocational experience but without a formal qualification.
The medium of instruction at Australian Nationwide College is English.
Entry Requirements
In order to gain entry into this course, the potential student must:
● Be 18 years of age or over ● Have satisfactorily completed the Australian Year 12 (or equivalent), and ● Have an IELTS band score of 5.5 or TOEFL 500 or equivalent
Pathways into the Advanced Diploma of Management
Students may enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake vocational education and training at advanced diploma level, including:
after achieving the BSB51107 Diploma of Management or other relevant qualification/s.
OR
providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB51107 Diploma of Management or other relevant qualification/s.
OR
With substantial vocational experience, in management but without a formal qualification.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered over 26 weeks. It includes 20 weeks of tuition and 6 weeks of term break. 20 weeks include 4 blocks, each with teaching period of 5 weeks. Students have face-to-face tuition of a minimum with 20 hours per week (not self paced or part time).
The medium of instruction at Australian Nationwide College (ANC) is English. Delivery of this qualification combines face-to-face trainer led theory classes, practical sessions involving small groups, individual and team activities, practical demonstration, role play.
Assessments
The theoretical components of each unit of competency are class room based, face-to-face trainer led whilst the practical components are delivered through observation and practical demonstration. Each unit of competency involves assessment tasks conducted in a range of contexts. Such assessment tasks include case studies at critical incident, practical demonstration, individual project, report writing, portfolio of evidence, closed book exams, role play, oral presentation.
Learning Pathways
Upon completion of the Advanced Diploma of Management, students will be able to find employment, in relation to job roles including:
- Area Manager - Department Manager - Regional Manager
Upon completion of this qualification, students may be eligible to do other specialist Advanced Diploma qualifications in the Business Service Training Package (BSB07).
Accreditation Status
Advanced Diploma of Management is accredited by Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board (VETAB). This can be viewed in www.vetab.nsw.gov.au.

Recognition of Prior Learning & Recognition of Current Competency
RPL is the assessment process for recognizing competencies gained through previous learning, work and life experiences.
Students need to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/ Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) before their enrolment. In order to be granted for RPL, students will need to provide evidence that they are already competent in this/these specific unit or units and these evidences must be valid, authentic, current and sufficient.
