English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (5~20 weeks)

2 Levels of the English for Academic Purposes programme: EAP Levels 1 and 2 (ie Upper intermediate level and Advanced level, respectively)
  • Concentrates on academic skills needed for listening, speaking, reading and writing.
  • Each level can operate as a stand-alone course
  • Progression to a higher level occurs only after a lower level is completed successfully
Course Objectives
  • At each level, students will develop Academic English skills such as:
  • Communicating in higher academic education environments A
  • Note taking and writing essays academically
  • Preparing both oral and written presentations
  • Conducting research and evaluating primary and secondary resources/data

English for Academic Purposes is aimed at students who need English for use in higher education or university courses. Graduating students may continue to study Certificate IV or Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Business Management or the Diploma of Accounting at AustralianNationwideCollege. Other courses are available at other tertiary institutions for students to continue their studies. Conditions may apply.

 

English for High School Preparation (5~52 weeks)

This High School Preparation Course is especially designed to prepare overseas students with the English language skills required to enter and study at an Australian high school, entering at the Year 11 level. The course focusses on the study and cultural survival skills necessary for academic and social success at high school. Students completing this course will receive a final End of Course Certificate indicating the level that they achieved in the course. This may be an Intermediate, an Upper Intermediate or an Advanced level.

IELTS PREPARATION PROGRAM (12 weeks)

This is a full time intensive course, designed to develop the specific language skills of students preparing to take the IELTS Examination. It covers the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking with a high degree of personal academic interaction with your teacher.

 

The course provides practical guidance in the development and application of linguistic skills relevant to the IELTS examination requirements including vocabulary, grammar, text production and analysis and listening and speaking. Weekly practice tests based on IELTS past papers provide an assessable framework to effectively measure student progress. Students completing this course will receive a final End of Course Certificate indicating the level that they achieved in the course. This may be an Upper Intermediate or an Advanced level.
