Course Description

The purpose of this qualification is to ensure graduates acquire the skills which are common across all small business roles. During this course students will develop skills and knowledge needed to operate effectively as a supervisor or frontline manager. By the end of this course, students will be able to plan work schedules, monitor performance, develop and maintain business relationships and to demonstrate appropriate leadership style. This course provides competencies in establishing business networks, developing teams and individuals, coordinating business resources, coordinate implementation of customer service strategies, promote innovation and change, implementing and monitor environmental policies, maintaining financial records, promoting team effectiveness, implement effective workplace relationships, and prepare financial reports.

Entry Requirements

In order to gain entry into this course, the potential student must demonstrate sompletion of year 11 or equivalent and a minimum English level IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.

Course Delivery

The course is delivered over 26 weeks with 20 weeks face toface delivery. The 20 weeks includes 4 blocks, each with teaching period of 5 weeks. Each week, students have 20 hours of class.

Delivery is conducted in English at the ANC site through face to face training in the classroom or in a computer lab. Training may include training sessions, presentations, student demonstraions, exercises, group work, projects, research, site visits and guest speakers.

Assessments

Each student will involve assessment tasks conducted through a variety of strategies and may include formal exams, take home research assignments, decomstrations, projects, case studies and exercises.

Career Prospects / Vocational Outcomes

Having completed this course the student may apply for an Administrative Officer, Customer Service/Supervisor, Assistant Accoutant, Executive and Personal Assistant or a Project Team Members. This course also provides the foundation for higher level qualifications. The course is also designed to provide tranining for clerical and administrative occupations. It will provide a pathway to all careers related to the clerical and administrative sector.

Articulation

After successful completion of the Certicate IV, students may progress to the Diploma of Business Management.

Recognition of Prior Learning & Recognition of Current Competency

The student can request Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when he/she enrols in teh course or during induction. Students can receive credit towards their course based on their knowledge and skills gained through previous study, other formal or thformal training, and work and/or life experiences.
